What are Cement Tiles?
Cement tiles, also known as encaustic tiles are HANDMADE individually using a traditional technique that has been used for over a century.
Each tile is crafted by hand from a mixture of
CEMENT, SAND, PIGMENTS, (patience and love!)
and then pressed by a manual hydraulic press. Each tile is unique from the next with slight variations occuring in their tone, shape and texture as a result of the handmade process.
These variations add to their timeless quality and charm.
The tiles are then cured for weeks, which results in a STRONG and DURABLE final product. Our tiles are perfect for adding a touch of elegance and uniqueness to any space. They can be used as a wall for kitchen backsplash for example and/or floor covering for interiors.
Cement tiles from Atelier Lucie undergo a meticulous process, starting with the design creation to the production in Melbourne.
The different available sizes are: 10x10cm and 20x20cm
The thickness is generally of 1.6cm but can vary of
+/- 1/2mm

Environmentally friendly
Cement tiles are made from natural materials (sand, cement & natural pigments) and manufactured using a manual hydraulic press.
There is no use of power in the process of creation the cement tiles from Atelier Lucie.

Who am I
My name is Lucie, a French/Australian passionate about the vibrant spirit of Australia and the timeless elegance of France.
My passion lies in the art of cement tiles, a craft that blends colors, design, and tradition into each piece. Inspired by the French savoir-faire, which translates to 'know-how', I embarked on a journey to master the creation of traditional cement tiles. This adventure led me to France, where I had the opportunity to learn the authentic, handmade process of creation of cement tiles.
Bringing this rich heritage and skill back to Australia, I am thrilled to share my savoir-faire with you. Each tile (made individually by hand with love!) is not just a piece of material but a story of cultures merging, an embodiment of art, and a testament to the enduring beauty of handcrafted work.
